Entrepreneurship Development Strategies for Achieving and Sustaining Growth a Session in IIBS Bangalore

On 21st January 2019, International Institute of Business Studies, Bangalore was a host for the Entrepreneurship Development Strategies for Achieving and Sustaining Growth talk by the leading face in the pool, Mr. T.S. Gulhati, Chairman, Sonarome Pvt. Ltd, a company manufactures fragrances & aroma for food & exports to many countries worldwide and also President, Doddaballapur Industrial Association.
He revived the young business school students' minds, by being the genius, he is. He spoke about supply chains, and networks, and the challenges a young entrepreneur faces in their early days.
Mr. T.S. Gulhati made sure, the budding managers were thrilled. He shared his early experiences, and gave important notes, to be imprinted on the minds of the  MBA and PGDM students of IIBS.


The IIBS Bangalore airport campus, thus, held another eminent person from the business, who could guide the B-school students and set them on the right path. The vigorous Question and Answer round was interactive, and Mr. T.S. Gulhati made sure he answered every question with a tinge of belongingness, and personal experience.
Mr.Gulhati started his business career by establishing SONAROME which is now the best Indian company in the field of flavours and fragrances. Mr.Gulhati has taught at Bhavan’s college; Administrative Staff Training College, Hyderabad and has been visiting faculty at IIM Bangalore. Mr.Trilok Singh Gulhati started his career with Hindustan Unilever as a salesman.
Later he was Regional Manager in Gabriel India, followed with his stint with SIEMENS INDIA where he handled sales of Electric cables, Motors etc. He was National Sales Manager with Warner-Lambert and was responsible for Launch of Chiclets and Halls Mentholyptus in India. He then moved to Reckitt & Colman where he was responsible for the successful launch of Disprine.

Value Added Course for the MBA/PGDM Student: Joint certification Program with NSE Academy Certified Capital Market Professional (NCCMP) in collaboration with IIBS Bangalore



Joint certification Program with NSE Academy Certified Capital Market Professional (NCCMP) in collaboration with IIBS Bangalore as a Value-added Course for the IIBS Student. On 25th Jan 2019, for the MBA and PGDM students had successful online NSE exam on the beginner module. NSE aims at cultivating a culture of knowledge to help investors take informed decisions relating to the securities market and has initiated a number of educational initiatives such as certification programs, training, financial literacy at the school level, short term courses at college level etc.


NSE Academy provides a platform to seek financial knowledge about financial markets and other various modules such as

  • Stock Exchange
  • Capital Markets
  • Derivative Markets
  • Mutual Funds

As the value-added program, the students learn about stock exchange structure, its operations, products traded on it and so on. They also learn about NCFM certification which not only expands their financial knowledge but also improves their career prospects in the finance sector. The certification program provides the candidate certificate based upon the scorecards.

Industrial visit to UNIBIC Cookies Co. by IIBS MBA Students


Industrial visit IIBS MBA Students to UNIBIC Cookies Company on 22nd Jan 2019, a brand from Australia. In India, it started in 2004 and Headquarters is in Bengaluru. This is the first company to bring cookies with cranberry and fruit nuts for having good health of people. Unibic has 30 variants of cookies in the market.UNIBIC is first to provide Disney show in India. Unibic captured exports 3% and Domestic market  93%. The number of total workers is 800. The production capacity is 30000 tonnes cookies per year.


In the assessment year, 2018-19  turnover was 500crores.Sources of funds are 45% from shares.The main issue the company is with there pricing of the products and people are not aware of there products so they are going for the cheap alternatives. To get people aware of their product the company is directly tieing up with other companies like Cafe Coffee Day, AirAsia Airlines, etc.


This visit was for the awareness of the MBA/PGDM students on the production process of the company. The class was under the guidance of Prof.Deepshi Singhal who coordinated with the management for the organization of this visit.

Decennium Celebration of IIBS Business School at Bangalore


IIBS - Decennium Journey of success program was held on 23rd Dec, 2018 to embark the remembrance of the milestone, the foundation day of International Institute of Business Studies. The event was graced by the presence of stalwarts and intellects like Dr. K. Janardhanam, Director CBSMS, Bangalore Central University, Mr Arun Tanksali, Co-founder NEAREX, Dr. Jay Prakash Chairman IIBS, Mr. Rahim Khan, Director Marketing IIBS, Prof. Rizwan Ali Baig, Registrar IIBS, faculty, staff and students.


The event was a fusion of intellectualism, nostalgia of association with IIBS, a remarkable celebrationwith the symphony of dance and music. The program began with the welcome of guest and their expert talk in the area of technology, strategic roadmap for success, the importance of having a competitive edge followed by the talk of our visionary Dr. Jay Prakash, Chairman, initiator and founder of the institute IIBS.


Acknowledgement of faculty and the staff was the major highlight of the event as employees were rewarded for their association, commitment, contribution towards the institute and sharing their experience of being part and partial of IIBS.


Cultural performance added grace to the event as faculty, staff and MBA and PGDM students created a euphoric vibe through their performance such as singing, dancing, skit, fashion show to illuminate the foundation day celebration of IIBS.

The Workshop was Conducted on WTO at IIBS Bangalore


The workshop was conducted on WTO and the International Trade landscape and Emerging Trends and The Institutions that facilitate International Trade other than WTO by Prof. Shanker S, Adjunct Faculty, IIM-B (Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore) at IIBS Airport Campus, Bangalore

The workshop had two sessions:

  1. WTO and the International Trade landscape and Emerging Trends and
  2. The Institutions that facilitate International Trade other than WTO.
The global companies’ business is looking out at the transformation in their business operations, by thinking globally & acting locally by encouraging innovations and entrepreneurship amongst professionals.

Moving forward to enrich the management students, IIBS organized the workshop on WTO and International Trade Landscape would be to educate and help future management leaders solve their organizational challenges, manage change, grow and innovate of MBA and PGDM Students of IIBS.

The workshop had two sessions:

Session-1:
  • Initiatives from Government of Karnataka Centre for Export Promotions and
  • Trends, Checklists, Overview and Significance  of Intellectual Property Rights, protections for budding entrepreneurs by Mrs. Prabhavathi Rao Program Coordinator IP Initiatives, VTPC, Govt of Karnataka
Session-2:
  • Introduction to the Spectrum of Intellectual Property rights with a focus on Patents & Patents filing mechanisms
  • Hands-on Online Session on Prior Art / Patent Search (Computer lab exercise) by Ms. Brinda K Varma, Patent Attorney and Senior Consultant, IP Commercialisation, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.

During I session Mrs.Prabhavathi explained in details the Importance of IPR to companies, especially to the start-ups.  She spoke elaborated the supported and assistance being extended by the Karnataka State Government, Department of Industries & Commerce and  Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) providing statistical information.  She also informed about the number of industries being guided and supported by VTPC on Intellectual Properties.
During II session by Mrs.Brinda K Varma, explained about the Prior Art / Patent Search methodology and importance  IPR before commercialization of an Idea or  Product or Services.  She also taught about the IPR  registration process.
