Celebration of 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas by IIBS


Every year on July 26 IIBS Bangalore celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas remembering our brave soldiers and their sacrifices for the safety of our Nation. The chief guest for the evening was Col. R P Grover VSM who was commissioned into corps of engineers in 1963, he graduated in civil engineering from the college of military engineering, Pune. He is a veteran of two wars and had distinguished himself in both 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars.


All the PGDM students actively participated in the patriotic event. Ms. Haritha started the event with a warm welcome and introduced our chief guest. Further, she added the importance of the Kargil war which took place between India and Pakistan from 3rd May to 26th July in the year 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir and along the line of control (LOC). She also discussed how the Indian army fought like heroes and laid down their lives for the sake of our country, then there was a 1-minute silence to recall our martyr’s bravery.


Dean, Prof. Kuldeep Sharma delivered an introductory speech which gave the audience a feeling of patriotism. Then the event was followed by colonel sir who shared his experience about the war and gave a detailed description of the Kargil war. Firstly, he delivered an insight into the Kargil war. Then he added the martyr’s name who fearlessly fought against the Pakistan army and gave us a lesson and inspiration to be brave and lead a disciplined life. Then the speech was continued by our registrar Prof.NSR Murthy sir who also enlightened us about the Kargil Diwas.


The cultural event started with a beautiful poem recited by our PGDM senior Prem Adhikari and then remembering the martyr’s, Izhar and Swetha Mukherjee sang a patriotic song which filled the gathering with emotion. The program was further followed by poetry by Imon, group dance led by Nikita, Sreyashi and Suniti, mesmerized the audience completely. In addition to the cultural Imon and Amit sang a melodious patriotic song which took the audience by surprise. The cultural program concluded with a self-written poem by Swetha Bhardwaj describing a soldier’s loyalty to his motherland and a harmonious song by Daisy in the memory of our beloved soldiers.


At the end of the program, the chief was felicitated with a token of love by Registrar and Dean followed by a vote of thanks by Jaweria. Thereafter everyone sang the national anthem.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated in proud memory of the brave slain heroes during India's victory over Pakistan during Kargil War 1999.
