IIBS MBA Student at Krishi Mela / Agricultural Fair in Bangalore

A visit to Krishi Mela / Agricultural Fair in Bangalore by IIBS MBA Student. The Krishi Mela 2018 is being conducted at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (GKVK) from November 15 to 18, 2018.

Krishi Mela visits and it's purpose for an MBA student to know the answer to the following question.

    • What is rural marketing?
    • Is it an organized sector?
    • Does the Indian rural population follow the consumer behaviour pattern as taught in business schools?
    • What is the health care in rural India?
    • Do they advertise in rural India?

International Institute of Business Studies, Bangalore leaves no stone unturned. An exposure to the rural market and the agriculture sector with hands-on experience was what the students of IIBS have just come back from.
It was a welcome gesture from Mrs. Madhavi Latha of TDU/FRLHT a the University of Ayurveda, and Health Services to train, guide, and motivate a team of ten students from IIBS. The team learnt their first on hands lesson from a person who was a blend of professional, and a mother.

The students took up the challenge of marketing, promoting, and selling of the publications of TDU/FRLHT. It was an uphill task for the team as the city was new, field unknown, and the language was completely strange.
The visitors to the Krishi Mela were pleasantly surprised to find smartly dressed youngsters trying all their tricks in the sleeve to woo them for a buy. The team on the other hand perfectly understood that not all customers are friendly, not everyone will buy, nor that everyone has the patience to hear to you. They did bite the bitter truth only to rise, and make a sale. They moved the hill, moved the earth, Yes! They got the customer to buy from them. The first taste of victory, first sale, first feel of an earning has no words to describe.

This two days industry seminar was attended by Dr. A. Prakash. Industrial companies are revisiting their own business processes and technology approaches as competitors and partners start to employ 'digitalized' business processes and exploit the increasing convergence between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) on the manufacturing shop floor  to top floor – (General Managers, COOs, CTO, CMO, CFOs,  CEOs).  Technology solution providers are moving from the Internet of Things (IoT) concepts to real Industrial Internet of Things ( IIoT) products, solutions, and services.

Companies are creating and implementing IoT (Internet of Things) solutions as an alternative solution to traditional technology solutions.  Emerging business models allow manufacturers to rethink, or even outsource. Intelligent connected products, along with network communications, software, and analytics now enable manufacturers to improve uptime and optimize operating performance. Governments are also supporting growth initiatives.
The seminar focused on the level of how digitization can help industries, infrastructure, and cities grow in a secure, collaborative environment. The digitization has become imperative to succeed in a competitive world but the transition must be well strategized, implemented and to practice. The transition aspect of digitization was discussed through extensive networking among delegates, end users, and solution providers. Business pressures are driving manufacturers to implement new technologies, processes and become real-time integrated enterprises. The organizations plan and operate in collaboration at all functional areas & levels. Some companies already have a strategy for digital transformation, along with achievable roadmap.

The session topics covered industry and infrastructure moving towards digitization; automation trends, cyber security; smart technologies and smart cities; and several end-user experiences. On both days there were lively and thought-provoking question and answer sessions with the speakers.
Presentations at the recent ARC India Forum emphasized on Industry trends, its impact that digitalization has on business and industrial operations. It is now imperative for manufacturers to have a well-planned digitalization strategy for projects. The company believes that manufacturers and other industrial organizations must transform their businesses into digital enterprises and need to extend across the entire value chain.
Case studies of Collaborative efforts of two suppliers companies namely  AVEVA and Bentley Systems were presented.   The AVEVA Group focused on the completion of its merger with the industrial software business of Schneider Electric in 2018. The Bentley Systems is about the company’s connected data environment approach – the key differentiators, user success stories, collaborations, and clients in India.
The supplier companies speakers shared their experiences about collaborative efforts and platforms to help companies progress to the next level of digitization. In turn, end-user speakers highlighted partnerships and implementing new technologies that have helped them in their respective digital transformation efforts.  It was all about growth through the collaboration of cross-functional groups’ use of technologies, people, processes, and best practices.
